Smile Screening

For the past year, the screen on our back door has been flapping in the wind. It's trashy, I know, but when you have two big dogs, two little kids, and you actually use your screen door; it doesn't last long.

Well, we recently had it fixed. That back door screen is really the only thing that makes it possible to cool the house in the morning. The wind pours through it, so keeping it intact is sort of a priority now. At first we had a piece of paper taped to it with a frowny face drawn on it. That did the trick for a while but after two thunderstorms and some hail and heavy wind, it was done.

I was trying to think of something fun to put there instead when I remembered all the lovely beads we recently bought. I got out some thread and a needle and beaded a smiley face right where the dogs' heads would be.

This is how it looked after about 2 hours of trials and errors. But I know I can do better, so stay tuned!  (I love how summertime allows me to follow my artistic whims!)

  1. I'll see that smile in person in two days.
