Have a Cone on Me

The kids are sleeping in this morning. It's crazy how they tend to sleep in on days that I'm up and ready for the shenanigans, and they wake up early on days when I'm not. I can't complain. The easy solution is to be up and ready for them every morning. But that's easier said than done, especially when I stay up late finishing episodes of Dexter.  <yawn> I'm tired this morning and Season Four's ending was shitty.

We're back on the open-window schedule. In order to save energy in the spring and early summer -- and late summer and fall -- we open the windows around 8pm every night and don't close them until noon-ish everyday. The awesome result is that we cool the house down to about 75℉ every morning and then let it get to about 80℉ before the air kicks on. It is actually extremely comfortable and if I turn the air off at 5 or 6pm and allow the house to get a bit stuffy it forces us all out of doors in the evening. Which is where we should be anyway. Fresh air, sprinklers, and ice-cream cones are what our summers are made of. We like it that way.

We should celebrate the Summer Solstice.
